Apple Valley Natural Soap
Have you ever tried a shampoo bar? I hadn’t! I’ve been trying to incorporate more natural products into our home and eliminate toxins, so when I had the opportunity to try four different shampoo (and body!) bars from Apple Valley Natural Soap, I was so excited!

Apple Valley Natural Soap is an artisan soap company that makes over 60 varieties of handcrafted soap. They also make hair rinses, candles, deodorant, lip balms and more! I love that their products contain only natural and organic ingredients, and everything is cruelty-free! Their products are made with therapeutic-grade essential oils and are naturally colored with organic herbs, spices, vegetable juices, and clays.
Besides just being better for your body, Apple Valley Natural Soap products are better for the environment, too. Their soap products cut down on waste by eliminating plastics in the environment and reduce the amount of toxins we put back into the earth.
Marianne, the owner of Apple Valley Natural Soap, sent me four AH-mazing soap bars to try. I received the Coconut Milk + Citrus, Masala Chai, Green Tea + Nettles, and White China Silk bars. They arrived adorably packaged in a cute box and she included a sample of their Herbal Vinegar Hair Rinse and Organic Unrefined Golden Jojoba Oil as well! This gift set would be PERFECT as a Valentine’s Day gift for your special someone or one of your gal pals. You can even customize a little gift message for them!
If you haven’t used shampoo bars (or at the very least natural, sulfate-free shampoo previously), you’ll find that your hair and scalp will need to get used to it. Since these shampoo bars don’t strip your hair of natural oils like a lot of other harsh products, you may feel like it has some build up at first. Give it a few washes and use their Citric Acid Hair Rinse or the Herbal Vinegar Hair Rinse (which I tried) in combination with the bars as needed for the best results. Also, shampoo bars work best when you have soft water! Hard water minerals can be “grabbed” by the soap molecules and you can end up with waxy, dry hair. Try using a water softener system or a filtering shower head if you do have hard water!
So how do you ACTUALLY use the bars? We are all used to pumping or squeezing a water-based shampoo liquid into our hands, so looking at a bar of soap and wondering how it is supposed to get ON your hair might stump you for a second. Use it like you would a regular soap bar! I lathered it up in my hands, rubbed it on my scalp and down my hair, and used my hands to lather and wash as normal. GUYS – these smell SO good! My favorites to use were the Masala Chai and the Coconut Milk + Citrus. They have full product descriptions of each bar available on their website, so you’ll know exactly what to order based on your aroma preferences, hair type, and hair goals.
